Art and Design Workshops for 13 to 16 Year Olds

This art and design workshop course has been created with teenagers that are looking to get the full experience of art school in mind. Whether you consider yourself a complete beginner or if you are already studying art and design at school, this course will give you the experience of learning at Central Saint Martins...

During the two weeks you will explore the following subjects, which are all supported by relevant talks and discussions:
Observational Drawing, Still Life and Model Mark-Making and Printmaking Painting, Colour and Collage Typography and Graphic Design Sculpture, Spatial Design and Model Making
Towards the end of the course you will take these techniques and apply them to a personal project of your choosing with guidance from your tutor. All students will complete the course with sketchbooks full of ideas, along with a number of finished works and new technical abilities, all of which will help inspire your art and design practice in the future.
This promises to be an exciting and unique experience for any 13-16 year old teen who is:
Interested in developing their own creativity Building a portfolio for future studies Confident in learning from their mistakes Keen to work with students of different nationalities Willing to work and collaborate with others during projects Wishing to develop their skills in communicating ideas
All studies, accommodation and residential services take place at the Royal Hospital School in Ipswich - a boarding school set in beautiful grounds with great facilities. All of the residential services and support are provided for by our partners The Ardmore Group, a specialist English language and pastoral care organisation. The course fee includes shared-room accommodation, sports activities, internet access and catering for morning, lunch and evening meals.

Session 1: 3 July – 16 July 2016
Session 2: 17 July – 30 July 2016
Session 3: 31 July – 13 August 2016
*Final Exhibition - to be held on the last Friday afternoon of each course. Parents, family and friends are all invited to attend.
Weekday Course times:: 10.00 - 16.00
Estimated Group Size: Maximum of 16 students per class

Rochelle Fry is an artist and educator who lives and works in London. After completing her studies at the Royal Academy Schools in London she has exhibited her work widely in London and internationally. As a long standing member of Five Years, a well-established artist run gallery, she curates exhibitions and coordinates collaborative projects.
Rochelle has extensive experience teaching short courses at CSM including Art & Design Summer workshops for 13 to 17 year old students, Drawing Skills Workshop short-course and one-to-one portfolio bespoke courses. She also works independently, mentoring students for successful art university entry. Additionally, she teaches drawing to civil engineers at City University, London.
