Description

The aim of this course is to inspire and develop individual approaches to drawing from life. Experimental exercises will increase concentration, observation and confidence, whilst exploring new ways of drawing the figure. The time will be spent working from the clothed model in a variety of media. The course has been running at Central Saint Martins for many years and has been formative in developing the drawing skills of many well-known artists and designers.

Who should take this course?

Although ideally suited for those from the field of fashion, this course is perfect for anyone with a passion for (or desire to try) drawing from life.

Level: All levels of ability are welcome, from beginners to advanced students.

Tutor information

Array
Amelie Hegardt, is an artist originally from Sweden who, via Paris, Milan, New York, Beijing and Tokyo, now lives and works in London. Her studio practise encompasses a range of disciplines including film, fashion and design. She teaches life drawing and fashion illustration at the London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins. Her clients for fashion illustration include Vogue, MAC Cosmetics and Bloomingdales.

Materials

Please bring with you to the first session:

  • A2 size drawing pad or cartridge paper
  • Pencils (4b & 6b)
  • Oil pastels
  • Selection of other drawing equipment that they choose
  • Students will be advised to collect more materials as the weeks progress
