Fashion Design for 16 to 18 Year Olds (Online)
Online courses occur as 1.5 hour live sessions, during which time you will interact with your tutor, classmates and course content using in-built audio and video chat, instant messaging and the virtual work display area.

This course is for young people who have a passion for Fashion Design, and who want to learn new techniques to express themselves, and find out what a degree or future career in fashion might be like. The will guide you through the design process for Fashion Design from start to finish, and is project based, so you will have plenty of opportunity for making. The course encourages the development of ideas, experimentation and creative approaches to Fashion Design and Fashion Illustration, which underpin and define the spirit of fashion study at Central Saints Martins. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of Fashion Design study through research, documentation of ideas with sketchbooks, fashion illustration, experimentation, development of concepts, 2D and 3D experimentation, design presentation, and portfolio preparation for further study at FE or HE level.
Week by week, students will be introduced to techniques for the creation and development of design ideas for fashion. You will complete a weekly task which will be reviewed during the live sessions, and participate to group exercises to consolidate your views and aspirations while being enriched by a mix of cultures and creative talents. You will learn about fundamental techniques for Fashion design and processes used within industry and higher education.

By the end of the course you will have gained a good understanding of Fashion Design on a practical level. You will have experienced the various stages of the design process, learned how to communicate and present your work, and proven your design and creative ability through a body of work that can contribute to the building of a portfolio and prepare you for further studies.

- A2 Sketch pad / Drawing pad
- A3 hard backed sketchbook
- Drawing Kit - Pencils, and Colour Pencils
- Colour - This can be a felt tip or marker pens, Conte or charcoal, pens, acrylics or gouache etc.
- Eraser and Pencil Sharpener
- Pritt Stick or Glue Stick
- Camera (with Film or Memory as appropriate)
- Selection of Magazines (fashion, interiors, home decoration). These do not have to be NEW.
