Couture Tailoring CSM Short Course
Course description
This course is for anyone with experienced sewing skills, who would like to learn the high-end of fashion making. It is a practical course that concentrates on the production of a quality couture garment and it will offer the specialist skills that are necessary for a couture tailored garment.
Alongside the practical work a reference file will be developed containing notes and illustrations of the different stages covered in your practical example.
Entry requirements: You should be experienced in sewing skills
Please note: This course is for students aged 18 and older

Topics coveredYou will be working on a half couture jacket and taken through the different steps of construction using a combination of hand stitching and machine-sewing skills. This will include:
- pad stitching
- edge finishes
- collar application,
- pocket insertion
- hand canvassing and facings.

- Fabric scissors
- Small snips, scissors
- Paper scissors
- Handsewing needles nr.5-9
- Dressmakers pins steel not glass headed
- Measuring tape
- Black cotton handsewing thread nr.50
- Basting thread
- Tailors chalk
- Pen/pencil
- Notebook
- Set square/patternmaster and/or ruler
- Camera
