This ‘hands on’ dyeing course offers students an opportunity to experiment with a comprehensive range of dyeing and patterning techniques, including; Shibori, Batik, hand painting on to silk screen, indigo dyeing, natural dyeing and transfer printing; with access to professional standard facilities.

The course encourages you to develop these processes to your personal interests, in relation to colour, design and final outcome, backed up with practical workshops on mixing dye colours for synthetics and naturals, fabric identification, and finishing techniques.

June Fish works on BA and MA Textiles courses at Central Saint Martins, and has recently had a book published called 'Deigning and Printing Textiles'.

Materials

Please bring with you to the first session:

  • An apron
  • Pair of rubber gloves
  • Pen and pencils
  • A sketchbook
  • Plastic file to keep your course records in (you will be given handouts on each process)
  • Other materials will be required as the course progresses.
