This course is ideal for those who are unfamiliar with London and wish to explore the culture that informs global trends.

You will visit relevant exhibitions and museums, and discover places that will not be found in the guidebook.  You will experience London from a multi-disciplined design perspective, so if you are interested in trends, both past and future, and wish to develop your research skills then this course will be ideal.

The objective of the course is to experience London with a like-minded group and to gain confidence in expressing and experimenting with your ideas.   The course is therefore aimed at those who have a natural curiosity, like travel and have an interest in design and fashion.

Tutor information

Carol Morgan trained in textiles and is a senior lecturer on the BA Fashion Communication and Promotion course at Central Saint Martins.  She is a global trend tracker and fashion marketer, identifying what effects design and fashion around the world.  A consultant to leading European brands, in diverse areas from banking to communication. She has her own creative practice specialising in trends and fashion marketing.   Carol has worked as an international fashion and beauty brand consultant. She has been a key speaker at international fashion conferences and visiting lecturer in universities worldwide.

Daniela Bomba graduated from the MA in Womenswear from Central Saint Martins in 2010. She has worked for fashion labels including Luella and Maria Francesca Pepe and international clients including LPP in Poland. She is currently a freelance design consultant for LPP and a freelance Windows creative stylist for Selfridges.

Materials

Please bring with you to each class:

  • Camera or Phone with built in camera
  • Pen/Pencil and a notebook
  • Travelcard or Oyster card which is already topped up
  • Shoes that you can walk in
  • Suitable clothes for the climate.
