This course will teach the basics of how to take fashion images for a variety of commissioners, from magazines to fashion designers. You will analyse the various phases in the organising of a fashion photo-shoot, from the initial concept to its realisation. Emphasis will be given on working with models, fashion stylists, make-up artists and hair stylists.
Topics covered include:
- selection of location sets
- construction of studio sets
- propping and accessorizing
- camera settings and lighting control
- use of backdrops, reflectors and other practical fashion photography techniques
In addition, the course will include the production and execution of a fashion shoot using a professional industry team of makeup and hair artists, stylists and models.

Leigh Keily is an Australian celebrity portrait and fashion photographer based in London. He studied at Central Saint Martins and the London College of Fashion. He has become increasingly sought after to photograph celebrities, with recent work including James Van Der Beek and Kunal Nayyar (Big Bang Theory), Liam Payne from One Direction, David Gandy, The Scissor Sisters, Dan Stevens, Jim Chapman, Michael Pitt and Iwan Rheon. Commercially Leigh has shot for large brands including MTV, River Island, John Freida and Tesco, and smaller niche mens brands like Vanwolff, Rufskin and WP Menswear.
Leigh is also the co-founder and editor of quarterly specialist men’s magazine JÓN, which is available worldwide featuring Leigh’s interviews and photographs of celebrities including Breaking Bad’s RJ Mitte, Game of Thrones’ Joe Dempsie, Russell Tovey, as well as cast members of Downton Abbey. He teaches photography at Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion, and at fashion colleges in Malaysia.
