Description

The most directional cutting edge designs are discovered by working directly on a dress stand. On this course you will explore innovative concepts using a variety of abstract research pathways to inspire you to create experimental 3D shapes. Inspiration can be found among art in all its forms, historical clothing references, architecture and images gathered from London streets.

Topics covered

  • You will be encouraged to work instinctively and to engage with research in order to discover a design process through 3D experimentation and drawing.
  • The course will help you develop your skills in creating fashion as a 3D form and allow you to explore your creativity in a dynamic fashion school environment.
  • Pattern cutting tuition will be provided by a CSM pattern cutting tutor, who, toghether wih a sewing technician, will assist you in realising your design ideas.
  • The course culminates with the creation of a final piece and a research book in which you will document all your design development.

Anyone interested in developing their fashion design skills, including students thinking of apply to further studies at foundation or degree level.


Tutor information

Stephanie Cooper works as a freelance designer on projects internationally and also works as a fashion stylist. She is tutor on BA Fashion at CSM and a visiting tutor at the Royal College of Arts.
