Description

The course is aimed at Fashion design students wishing to further their fashion design and fabric knowledge.

The course aims to explore, identify and explain most fabrics used by designers. Throughout the first day you will be shown and given examples of fabrics from different suppliers enabling you to have a clear idea of which supplier to contact for specific fabrics

Leading on from this you will be encouraged to delve into fashion magazines and reference books finding a personal style or theme to develop. The internet may also be used to stream current collections.

Using fabrics provided you can begin to develop your ideas ready to photocopy and sketch. The magazines, fabrics and sketches will provide the necessary information to start your mood board.

A series of design developments and possible final drawings may now be produced providing the starting point for your collection and portfolio

The course is a valuable tool in the initial stages of designing a collection and for students learning about fabric for textiles and fashion related pathways. You will leave with a mood board in a current theme, fabric and design ideas for a fashion collection.
