There is an increasing emphasis on the visual in all types of work. In this course, you'll learn how graphic design principles can be applied to several work contexts, from highly skilled professional roles to basic office positions. Each class will connect graphic design to common visual tasks, such as presentations. You will investigate the role of design within this process. Several of these connections may extend over more than one session.
The course will be taught by a combination of short lectures, project work, and workshops - all making connections between design and its deployment. You will benefit on several fronts.
Firstly, you will gain an understanding of how to improve your visual skills, exploring aspects of design that you might not have previously considered.
Secondly you will receive an introduction to the ways through which you can integrate these skills into practical work settings.
Finally, through the linked series of lectures you will gain a structured overview of design history and theory.
For those interested, the appropriate software applications/programming languages can be explained within certain limits. These applications/languages could include Adobe Creative Suite, HTML and CSS.
