Using the discipline of bag design as a starting point, this course will provide the basic fundamentals of design communication.  As well as offering an understanding of those key aspects, the course will provide an overview of the manufacturing process and the techniques required for bag design.

Topics covered

  • There are three stages to the course. You will begin with understanding design investigation, involving trend analysis and prediction.
  • You will then progress to design interpretation, using sketches and computer aided design.
  • Finally, you will complete your designs and research by investigating material selection and suitability for manufacture.

At the end of the course you should leave with a full portfolio of design ideas, plenty of visual research and a clear idea of how to translate an idea into a real object.

This course is suitable for anyone who has some fashion or general design experience or interest who wishes to channel their talents to this exciting industry.

  • A black fine point pen
  • A technical pencil
  • Rubber
  • Ruler
  • Measuring tape
  • Tippex
  • Blank white sticky address labels
  • Three different coloured highlighters
  • A4 document wallet
  • Note book
  • Pritt stick or paper glue.
