As Lacoste celebrates its 80th anniversary, the iconic fashion and fragrance brand decided to run a project open to all Central Saint Martins Graphic and Communication Design students to create an innovative and visually arresting piece of art which tells the story of their new male fragrance Eau De Lacoste L.12.12 Noir.
This signals the second time the company has worked with Central Saint Martins and follows on from a previously successful project based around creating visual displays from fragrance bottles in 2012.
The briefing included a visit to Lacoste’s flagship store on Regent Street to meet Design Director Christophe Pillet who provided some words of inspiration and explained the heritage of the brand whilst giving the students the chance to experience the new fragrance. They were then given carte ‘noir’ to create their own visual interpretations.
Judging of the final designs took place at an exclusive event in London attended by the students, where the winner Cade Featherstone was selected by Christophe Pillet for his ‘Leap Motion’ interactive design which was inspired by the brands sporting heritage.
