When Hewlett Packard wanted to showcase the benefits of their new HP Designjet T520 printer they approached CSM’s Graphic Communication Design Programme looking for creative innovators to put it through its paces. An open brief was set to the students to use the printer to show the rest of the college what they do.
Because the students were able to print their designs straight away their work became more experimental, using different materials and approaches to see what worked and what didn’t and then trying again, so that the act of printing became a part of the design process.
The final works evolved beyond large-scale posters and demonstrated bold and intuitive results, which really pushed the boundaries of what can be created using a printer.
