Work With Our Staff

We provide opportunities for business by combining specialist knowledge of art and design with other disciplines.

Working with our researchers can be categorised in four different ways:

  • Commissioned Research – an outside organisation commissions a specific piece of research from the University. Client briefs can range from developing a new business opportunity to addressing social issues or applying new technology. The organisation will receive the results but is not actively involved in the research.
  • Collaborative Research – this allows an organisation to pioneer and develop a research project in partnership with University researchers. Collaborative research projects are often co-funded by business and the public sector and our researchers can often assist in obtaining research grants.
  • Consultancy – takes the form of giving expert advice rather than conducting specific research. Consultancy is one of the simplest ways for public, private or voluntary sector organisations to interact with the University and draw on our expertise.
  • Knowledge Transfer Partnerships – these partnerships are formed under an established government scheme that offers access to funding and specific academic expertise to undertake a strategic project that will add tangible value to businesses.
  • Design Laboratory

In house design professionals providing specialist consultancy for a wide range of international clients.

  • Design Against Crime

A practice led design research centre focused largely on tackling crimes which occur in urban areas.
