Futuro House

John Sturrock

The Futuro House has landed on our rooftop for a year-long event series. On loan from London based artist and BA Fine Art graduate Craig Barnes, the rare 1970s structure will act as a working space, host to a variety of performances, screenings, talks and more.

We are keen that the extraordinary setting of the Futuro House is used in the spirit of the project that the artist Craig Barnes has initiated. We see the loan of the Futuro House to CSM as an opportunity for the college community to gather slivers of what the future might hold.

We are suggesting a simple protocol for use of Futuro, in order to nudge any use so that in some way it has a futural orientation. We want any gathering within to take full advantage of the nourishment the Futuro House can offer.

Using the Futuro House:

The Futuro House is open for bookings from students, staff and commercial hire.

We propose that every event at the Futuro House, however small, should contribute a view, challenge, or propose alternative interpretations to what the idea of the future might hold. The future need not be the dominant theme of every activity, but it is hoped that you should at least consider your contribution to future-thinking as part of the event, and leave a trace of this futural speculation.
