Central Saint Martins Library provides students with a range of resources and services to support their learning and research. The library has a wide range of collections, services and facilities supporting the courses taught at CSM, including books, DVDs, journals and an extensive range of electronic resources.
Alex Duncan, Assistant Academic Support Librarian, talks briefly about the Library at Central Saint Martins:
I am a subject librarian supporting the Fashion and Textiles courses taught at CSM.
I teach students how to research effectively using the resources we have available, delivering information skills sessions, and providing relevant materials such as books or electronic resources to support teaching & studying on the courses I work with.
The lower floor of the library is a space for group study, research and for returning books. Facilities include an open access computing area, multi-function printing/scanning/photocopying devices and the Materials and Products Collection.
The Materials and Products Collection contains a range of innovative materials that represent current trends in design and manufacturing, and is co-ordinated by Jess Lertvilai. Students visiting the Library can browse the samples on the materials grids or display cabinets.
The upper floor is a designated quiet study space. Facilities include additional multi-function printing/scanning/photocopying devices and individual study spaces.
Both floors of the Library contain a comprehensive selection of books and current journals supporting the diverse range of subjects taught at CSM. In addition to the books available for loan, we have a wide range of special collections material such as one-off journal samples, artists books and limited edition/rare material including Visionaire and Oz.
To support research and study, Library Services offers access to the e-library for current students & staff. The e-library contains a comprehensive collection of resources including databases and e-journal titles.
Library Services has a range of online guides which provide subject specific focus on the range of resources available across UAL, including e-resources.
In addition, Academic Support Librarians have produced a set of Library subject-specific guides to support the courses taught at CSM, which is available in print and online. Find out more.
