Biography

Max's work is informed by digital culture but produced using traditional, labour-intensive craft techniques. He is interested in dualities: digital/analogue, image/object, contemporary/ancient, intangible/physical. Employing hand engraving and hammer forming techniques, he looks to create objects that resonate through a layering of histories.

He has exhibited widely in the UK and Europe, including recent shows at the Sir John Soane Museum, Saatchi Gallery and Gallery SO London, Pinakothek der Modern Munich, Design Museum Gent, Dovecot Studios Edinburgh and Gallerie Marzee Nijmegen. His work has also been acquired by several major private and public collections, including The Victoria & Albert Museum and The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths’ in London and The Fitzwilliam in Cambridge.
