Introduction

This workshop gives an overview of the e-Library, UAL's online gateway to databases and e-Journals. Whether you need access to market reports, news articles or full-text articles from peer-reviewed journals, this workshop, which includes hands-on exercises, gives you a chance to discover how to get the most from the University's subscribed electronic resources (e-resources). The session is a combination of demonstration and practice. Exercises are usually undertaken in pairs and questions can be answered at any stage of the session.

Who should attend?

Any member of staff who has an interest in accessing and using e-resources either on or off-campus.

Course tutors are particularly welcome.

What is the overall aim?

To provide an overview of the e-Library and give attendees a chance to practice information retrieval skills in a relaxed but controlled environment.

What are the expected Learning Outcomes?

By the end of the course, you will have:

  • Searched for and retrieved a range of e-resources in a number of different ways
  • Learned how to access e-resources off-campus
