Finding & Using Images for Teaching and Learning
Introduction
Images are an integral part of teaching and learning in the visual arts. Whilst formats have changed, shifting from analogue to digital, the need for high quality images that are copyright cleared for educational use is as important as ever. This workshop will help you find and use digital image resources and search tools.
Who should attend?
Any member of staff who needs to find and use images for their own teaching and research, or wants to help students improve their image-finding skills.
What is the overall aim?
- To provide a brief overview of issues around digital images and copyright
- To explore a range of digital image resources in the Library Services e-Library, and beyond
- To improve image searching skills for better results
- To introduce online tools for viewing and organising images, such as Cooliris.
What are the expected Learning Outcomes?
Through a combination of demonstration and hands-on practice, staff attending the course will be able to use the e-Library and Library Services Image pages to access digital image resources, get copyright guidance and tips for more effective searching.
