Michaela Giebelhausen

Michaela Giebelhausen is the BA Culture, Criticism and Curation Course Leader at Central Saint Martins.

Giebelhausen has worked extensively on the Pre-Raphaelites and on museum architecture. Her publications include the edited volume 'The architecture of the museum: symbolic structures, urban contexts' (Manchester UP, 2003), the monograph 'Painting the Bible: Representation and Belief in mid-Victorian Britain' (Ashgate, 2006) and the collection of essays (co-edited with Tim Barringer) 'Writing the Pre-Raphaelites' (Ashgate 2009). She is currently preparing the museum volume for Reaktion's Objekt series.

Her research focuses on the nineteenth-century destruction and transformation of Paris as manifested in photographs and popular prints. She is also establishing a research network to investigate constructions of wilderness and its material manifestations from the eighteenth century to the present.
