Daniel Davies, AHRC funded PhD student in Art and Design History - Collaborative Doctoral Award between the National Maritime Museum and Middlesex University.

The title of his thesis is 'Serving the Empire: P&O, Design, Identity and Representation, 1837-1969'. Drawing on the P&O ferries archive held at the National Maritime Museum’s Caird Library, the research examines the ways in which P&O employed artists and designers to represent its corporate mission and identity, and how this might be understood within the wider contexts of British imperialism.
