Summer Study Abroad - European Interior Design: London & Milan

Study abroad this summer with European Interior Design - London & Milan, where you will develop knowledge and skills in conceptualisation, design creation and spatial design. You will learn how to approach an interior design project from concept to presentation, with visits to museums and leading European interior design companies.

Your learning will be enhanced by a four day trip to Milan where you will be guided through the art and culture of one of Europe’s most iconic design cities.


European Interior Design - London & Milan studies the past to define the present, with guided visits to museums and leading Interior Design companies.

On this summer study interior design course, you will be guided through both manual and digital presentation skills, and be introduced to ergonomics, lighting design, materials, finishes and sustainability in European interior design.

You will be able to practice your skills working on a project, and gain analytical skills and an understanding of residential interior spatial design. You will also have the option to bring in your own interior design project plan, and enjoy creating your own dream space.

Milan trip

A four day, tutor-led study trip to Milan takes place in week 2 of the course. 

Flights, shared accommodation in a centrally located hotel, breakfast, Milan travel passes and all entrance fees are included in the programme fee.  

Tutor information

Gianfrancesco De Falco holds a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Naples in Italy and is currently working as an Interior and Product Designer in London.

He grew up professionally between Italy, Spain and England, successfully performing in different roles for the Interior Design industry.

Since he moved to London, he has opened his own Design studio primarily focused on residential projects and Ready Made which focuses on creating furniture, and assembling everyday objects which he likes to manipulate.  His works have been extensively shown in various international exhibitions.

Who should attend?

Summer Study Abroad programmes offer the opportunity to build on your knowledge of an existing subject, or to study something new. This course is based on a selected project from the year one undergraduate curriculum, and is delivered by a specialist course team. The course is suitable for those with some prior experience of interior design.

Summer Study Abroad programmes are ideal for current undergraduates wishing to continue their studies into the summer, or those who want a different study abroad experience – it’s a great way to get a taste of study at Chelsea, and life in London.
