Description

Design your own textile patterns and create a capsule fashion collection! You will begin by researching ideas for a set theme, with an off-site trip to enthuse and inspire you. From images and sketches you will create your own unique motif from which you will develop a pattern to apply to fabric. Experimenting with a variety of creative print techniques including stencil, blueprint, natural dye, block prints and painting you will consider colour, scale and impact. Next you will start to draw out ideas for a small scale capsule collection. Using silhouettes and thumbnails you will apply your print ideas using collage and painting before presenting your ideas at the end of the course.

Course Outcomes
By the end of the course you will have learnt how to develop your ideas into designs through research. You will have created your own pattern design and explored a range of printing techniques. You will leave the course with a small scale drawn capsule fashion collection and a range of textile samples.

Who Should Attend
The course is suitable for anyone with an interest in textiles and or fashion and will provide you with the chance to explore pattern and colour in a fashion context. An ideal course for anyone looking to create work for a portfolio to apply for future studies in art and design.
