Description

This course will develop your observational skills and will encourage you to experiment with different ways of drawing the figure. Master skills in foreshortening and perspective, quick drawing, light and tone and the use of media, while drawing from a life model.

Through a series of drawing exercises with a life-model, you will be encouraged to explore and develop your personal approach to life drawing, with ongoing references to the drawing techniques and styles of artists past and present.

Through a mixture of short and long poses, you will have the opportunity to explore a range of materials, including charcoal, graphite, ink and collage, and discover a range of expressive responses to the human form and its surrounding environment.

You will leave this course with a body of work which could be used towards a portfolio for degree study.

Course Outcomes
You will have developed your observational skills and will be more confident about drawing the figure and its surrounding environment. You will have benefitted from exploring different methods and approaches to seeing and drawing.

Who Should Attend
