On this course, you'll discuss and assess the value of art with dealers, curators and artists through visits to galleries and access to corporate and public collections and consultancies. It's an exciting opportunity for theoretical investigation, as well as getting plenty of practical advice on collecting contemporary art. We'll explore the logic of the art market and what drives this peculiar economy. We'll also look at strategies for identifying emerging artists and building a unique collection of contemporary art.

Course Outcomes
You'll be able to critically discuss and evaluate art. What's more, you'll have identified your own areas of interest and goals within contemporary art practice and be aware of key artists and movements.

Tutor information

Pil and Galia Kollectiv are London based artists, writers and curators working in collaboration.

Their work addresses the legacy of modernism and explores avant-garde discourses of the twentieth century and the way they operate in the context of a changing landscape of creative work and instrumentalised leisure. They have had solo shows at , New Zealand , S1 Artspace, Sheffield, 2008 and The Showroom Gallery, London, 2007.

They have also presented live work at the Herzliya Biennial, the Berlin Biennial] and the Montreal Biennial as well as at Kunsthall Oslo  Arnolfini, Bristol and Late at Tate.

They have also presented live work at the Stedelijk museum, Amsterdam, the Herzliya Biennial, the Berlin Biennial and the Montreal Biennial as well as at Kunsthall Oslo, Arnolfini, Bristol and Late at Tate.

Recent exhibitions include Mirrorcity, Hayward Gallery, London,  Office Space: The Modern Workplace Disrupted, YBCA, San Francisco, Giving Form to the Impatience of Liberty, Württembergischer Kunstverein, Stuttgart and All I Can See is the Management, Gasworks, London.

They are lecturers in Fine Art at the University of Reading, the Royal College of Art and the CASS School of Art. The are also the directors of project space xero, kline & coma.
