Description

Learn how to present your ideas for an illustrative or image led book and think about how these will be best considered by potential agents and publishers. You will also explore other routes to market. Many books and graphic novels are self-published or crowd funded. The course will examine the pros and cons, as well was looking at examples of both approaches.

We will examine the projects that students are either currently working on, or about to embark upon assessing the commercial potential in the books. During the class you will look at the overall structure of the projects proposed as well as examining examples of successful ones, we will also consider the necessity or otherwise of getting an agent. You will receive an honest and constructive appraisal from the tutor, who, as a published author, has survived the process and will share one to one insights and suggestions. There will also be opportunity to share your work to your peers and receive valuable encouragement.

Course Outcomes
You will leave with a more complete idea of what decisions are involved in producing a book for market. Valuable time will be saved by learning to avoid the more common mistakes involved in publishing. You will have a greater understanding of the process to help inform important decisions at the front end of the whole publishing process. You will also learn about targeting your book at the right publishers.

Who Should Attend
Aimed at people who either already have an illustrative or image led book under way, or who are weighing up the pros and cons of starting one.
