Description

A “pop-up” is a short-term, temporary retail or exhibition event that is "here today, gone tomorrow". Pop-up shops allow designers and creatives to communicate their work and products to their specific targeted audiences and customers through the use of an exciting, unique and engaging physical environment; creating a long term, lasting impression.
 
On the course you will gain an understanding as to how you can apply interior design skills, marketing tools, communication and project management into spaces that are temporary in nature. You will learn how to visualise a space with a short lifespan, that is modular and can be repurposed, built up and broken down simply and efficiently.

  • Why you need a POP UP event

  • How to pick the perfect POP UP location 

  • Interior design and layout

  • Retail merchandising, inventory and in-store displays

  • Visual merchandising with creative window displays

  • Signage and visual communication

  • Technical requirements and E-commerce

  • Marketing and promotion for your POP UP space through social media

  • Evaluating your POP UP event.


Course Outcomes
By the end of the course, you will be armed with the right skills and knowledge to design, plan and implement your own Pop Up event. You will understand how to put together a detailed specification and the importance of clear ordering procedures to ensure the smooth running and success of your Pop-Up event.

Tutor information

Valentina Gonzalez Wohlers (Mexico City, 1977) is a Product and interior designer based in London. Before entering Central Saint Martins to complete an MA in Contemporary Furniture (LDN 2005-2007) she graduated in Product Design with honours from the UIA in 2000, Mexico City, and holds postgraduate diplomas in Project Management (ITAM, MXCY 2003) and Business Administration (LCBM, LDN 2010). Her work has been featured in a wide range of international publications and selected for design exhibitions around America and Europe. She is a regular guest lecturer and speaker in several design colleges throughout the UK and Mexico. Currently a professional furniture and interiors designer and consultant, Valentina has been developing her own brand as well of private commissions and bespoke furniture for the residential and commercial industry worldwide since 2007.
