Public Realm Design
Through a series of practical exercises, you will look at the design of elements for the public realm, how they inevitably interact with the character of their surroundings and how we can use them to create a sense of place. You will look at elements such as benches, lighting columns, shelters and drinking fountains - destined to fit within architecturally considered environments...
Taught by: Jonas Von Stedingk.
You will have gained a foundation of the relevant criteria involved when approaching the design of elements for public or outdoor spaces; whether urban streetscapes, parks, plazas or even private areas. A design element will be produced as an exercise in applying the principles learnt. You may also chose to incorporate this into your existing portfolio, showing a capability to translate cultural cues into contemporary design.
Who Should Attend
This course can benefit aspiring, intermediate and practicing 3D designers who wish to gain experience and understanding in how to design objects for an urban or public space.
