If you want your interior to stand out from the crowd then this is the course for you! Detailing is an important part of an Interior designer’s job and is an opportunity to stamp your creativity onto a scheme. From hiding services to designing wardrobes this practical project based course will guide you through the process and enable you to communicate your ideas to contractors and clients alike.
Your tutor will begin by setting a project which will give you the opportunity to work through the essential stages involved with designing a specific item. You will learn how to take a detailed brief and how to interpret this into existing architectural spaces via sketching, scaled models and 3D drawings. We will cover ergonomics, construction, materials and finishes, manufacturing techniques, hardware and writing a specification. We will be visiting a joinery workshop so that you can see the full process. Finally, you will produce a fully annotated detailed working drawing to communicate your idea to a manufacturer.
You’ll come away from the course with an understanding of the process involved with designing bespoke fitted furniture, as well as the materials, finishes and manufacturing processes. You will have learned how to draw and specify a working drawing. This will be a unique skill to add to your portfolio.
Who Should Attend
Anyone who has a keen interest in designing unique fitted furniture such as wardrobes and a variety of storage solutions. Ideal for design professional’s eager to add to their skills base.
