This course will cover the newly unexplored area of web-based art and creative coding for artists. Digital artwork distributed via the Internet, has the ability to provide artists with more immediate and innovative ways of exhibiting and sharing their art, outside of the traditional confines of the gallery and museum system. On this course we will begin by giving you an introduction to the theory and history behind web-based art as well as providing you with the essential tools to begin designing your own web pages and layout. As the course progresses, you will explore the function of the web in contemporary art and learn how to implement this using HTML and CSS. Each session will include a lecture along with a few practical exercises, which you will work through together with your tutor. You apply theses newly learnt skills to a final project, which you will present at the end of the course. Tailored advice on further education opportunities in this subject will also be provided to each student according your specific career aspirations and goals.
Introduction to the history and theory behind web-based art
HTML architecture and basic skeleton
Styling a web page using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
Approaches to designing web pages layouts
Web colour codes and pallets
The use of images, videos and text in web pages
You will complete the course with the ability to create basic web pages You will have the tools to invest and expand your creative practice within the digital sphere. The course will assist you with consolidating the foundations of web coding, understanding HTML and CSS structures and roles.

Eden Lazaness is a London based artist and curator practicing drawing, video and installation. Her work is derived and inspired by social zeitgeist and the current human situation, and she strongly believes that art has a social role openly reflecting the life we live in now. She holds a MA Fine Arts degree from Chelsea College of Arts. Her work was exhibited worldwide and her latest project “In Between” was exhibited in Saatchi Gallery, London.
Prior to the start of your course, please ensure:
