Virtual Reality Short Course – An Immersive Introduction
Join our Virtual Reality (VR) Short Course and be introduced to application creation; including a demonstration of VR environment creation using Unity software, Blender software and HTC VIVE technology setup.
First you will be given an introduction to VR where you will learn how this thriving technology re-shaping the creative industry. Following this, you will get hands-on as you learn how to create 2D textures and images that will be placed within a 3D environment, using the leading open source software for VR/AR game development.
Your tutor will demonstrate how to create a 3D environment, find and import 3D assets, build basic 3D assets in blender, Deploy a VR project and set up an HTC VIVE kit. You will then have the opportunity to individually experience this collaborative immersive creation.

You will have a basic understanding of the VR workflow, and a list of resources to reference as you continue to independently develop your VR creation skills. You will also take away a copy of your first HTC VIVE Collaborative VR application.
Who Should Attend
Anyone with an interest in gaming or film and TV design. Also suitable for artists and designers curious to explore new technologies to enhance their practice. Similarly, anyone with a basic knowledge of 3D modelling software such as Blender, Maya, 3D Max or SketchUp will gain an insight as to how their skills could be developed within this exciting new area of technology.
Please bring the following:
- A note pad and pen/device to take notes
- A USB memory Stick (2GB)
