This is not a conventional Javascript course. Designed for visual artists and designers, who are new to coding, this course demonstrates how to implement simple visual ideas, on a web page. The course introduces fundamental programming and web-page layout concepts. During the course, you will build examples, using Javascript, HTML, CSS, jQuery and p5.js. The goal of this structured, hands-on course, is to give you a real understanding of the code that you are writing.

Topics Covered

  • Web page layout fundamentals

  • Javascript fundamentals : arrays, objects, variables, functions

  • Creating interactivity 

  • Using randomness, time, colour, and state.

  • Animation techniques 

  • Making use of Javascript libraries : jQuery and p5.js

Course Outcomes
You will understand how web page layout works. You will be aware of the fundamentals of Javascript (variables, arrays, functions, objects). You will know how to add interactivity to a project. You will be able to make use of animation, colour, time and state in your projects. You will be aware of how to incorporate the jQuery and p5.js libraries into your work. 

Who Should Attend 
The course is intended for artists and designers, who are creating digital projects. You may be new to coding, but have some basic experience creating a simple web page, using HTML and CSS.
