The course explores the process of designing unique pieces of bespoke fitted furniture, so if you want your interior to stand out from the crowd this is for you. Your tutor will begin by setting a project which will give you the opportunity to work through the essential stages involved in designing a specific item of fitted furniture. You will consider ergonomics, construction, materials and finishes as you realise your design from building a model to scale. Finally, you'll produce a construction drawing to communicate your ideas to a manufacturer, and a presentation board to sell the idea to your client.
You'll come away from the course with an understanding of the process involved in designing bespoke fitted furniture, along with the materials, finishes and manufacturing processes. By the end of the course, you'll be able to communicate your designs so that your exclusive pieces can be built to your specification.
Who Should Attend
Ideal for design professionals eager to add to their skills base, as well as beginners with a keen interest in designing unique fitted furniture, such as wardrobes and a variety of storage solutions. You'll need basic technical drawing skills with some knowledge of design principles.
All levels are welcome; some knowledge of technical drawing and design principles would be an advantage.
