Thomas Haywood’s images of people and places highlight the subjective nature of photography as both documentary truth and malleable narrative.

In his Family series, a project he revisits every six years, Haywood photographs young members of his own family. As they get older and work out their own place in the world, Haywood captures these family members self-consciousness, uncertainty, fad interests, environments and interactions with rare intimacy.

Infused with a deeply personal perspective, Haywood’s photographs tell a story of life that's both individual and universal, as shared mementos of our collective consciousness and experiences.

Haywood’s work is regularly exhibited in the UK and internationally, featuring at galleries and festivals including Metro (Copenhagen), Exhibit, Jerwood Gallery, Standpoint (all London) and Photomonth (Krakow).
