Rob Prewett is one of the UK’s foremost casting experts, working primarily with bronze.

Interpreting this material as sculpturally neutral, like paint is to painting, Prewett uses bronze to create surface and form. His sculptures often explore the highly formalised structure of painting genres such as still-life and vanitas, ignoring meditative silence in favour of colour and humour.

Prewett’s still life arrangement Dispersal uses a variety of techniques to play with these formal traditions, like using real bottle caps to combine pop elements with bronze’s timeless authority.

Prewett’s work has been exhibited at museums and galleries in the UK, including Pumproom (Cheltenham), South London Gallery, Camberwell Space (both London). His conference participation includes Casting for Design and Casting User: Evaporative Pattern Casting, hosted by Foseco & IBF.
