Molly Palmer

Molly Palmer work encompasses music, installation, sculpture, choreography and filmmaking.

Using handmade props, sets and costumes to produce layered video worlds, she green-screens her protagonists into parallel places, where music, gesture and dialogue form cyclical narratives that explore the strangeness concealed within ordinary things.

Here, sculptural objects, artificial landscapes and otherworldly humans create scenarios where communication is primarily done without words. Through layering, rhythm and the multiplicity of bodies, viewpoints and perspectives we witness fractured identities and inhabit shifting dream states.

Palmer graduated from Royal Academy Schools in 2016, receiving the Gold Medal. She was awarded Jerwood Visual Arts Artist’s Bursary in 2017.

Past exhibitions include Amphibia / Double Life at Kala Art Institute (Berkeley, United States of America), Artist’s Surround Sound Project at Art Basel (Miami, United States of America), Berwick New Cinema at Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival (Berwick-Upon-Tweed, England), Electric Blue at Galeria Vermelho (São Paulo, Brazil), Mono 5 at MUPO (Oaxaca, Mexico), Not of This Earth at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center (Buffalo, United States of America), Projections at Art Rotterdam (Netherlands), Some Shapes Without Edges at Royal Academy (London) and The Fade at CCA (Glasgow, Scotland).
