Martina Caruso is an academic, writer and curator who splits her time between working in London and Rome.

Caruso’s interests, developed during research for her PhD at the Courtauld Institute of Art, focus on modern and contemporary Italian photography and art, as well as Anglo-American bias in the history of photography. Her other interests include humanism, gender, visual effect and activism in photographic practices.

Caruso commissions academic and artistic work for Either / And, a web-based project on contemporary photography in collaboration with London’s New Media Museum. She also works as a consultant in Rome for the Giulio Turcato Archives, and recently curated Giulio Turcato. Stellare at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MACRO).
