Description

Photography for 14-17 years olds is a hands-on course where you will experiment with a range of digital and analogue photographic techniques, leaving the course with a body of work showcasing a range of different photography practices.

These will range from creating images with a pin-hole camera, using light to create a cyanotype and photogram as well as using digital editing techniques to optimise your photographic images. You will also learn about the effects of studio lighting, while making prints utilising various techniques.

Responding to a specific theme, which will be open to your own interpretation, you tutor will guide you through these fun, hands-on processes. You will be amazed by the possibilities that photography has to offer and will discover a new medium through which to express yourself through the lens.

Course Outcomes
You'll leave with a body of work demonstrating the range of approaches and activities you've experienced. You will have learnt how to combine digital and analogue photographic techniques to produce your own images. You will know about various photographic studio lighting techniques and have an understanding of the place of alternative photographic processes within contemporary image making. 

Who Should Attend
Anyone aged 14 - 17 years who keen to experience working with a range of different techniques on this photography course. It would also be suitable for anyone wanting to build a portfolio of photography work, considering future studies in art and design.

  • Digital camera or camera phone/tablet 
  • USB memory stick - minimum 3GB
