Congratulations to LCF alumni Marco Del Prete and Mimmi Musiala. Marco has been appointed Brand Manager at Burberry joining two LCF MA Strategic Fashion Management alumni from previous years. Mimmi has just been appointed Marketing and Product Manager at LVMH group.

Althea McNish
Congratulations to Althea McNish, LCC alumna and textile designer, who received the honorary degree of Doctor of Arts of the University of Trinidad and Tobago on 25 November 2006 in a graduation ceremony at the University's Omeara campus at Arima, Trinidad. She already holds the Chaconia Medal (Gold) of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, awarded in 1976, and the Scarlet Ibis Award of the Republic's London High Commission, awarded in 1993. Althea was featured in the alumni magazine for Autumn/Winter 2005.

A limited number of Thelma Marks' book 'A Cameo of Fashion 1951-1982', are available to alumni at a special offer price of £17 including postage (RRP £27.95). The book highlights the rapid social change in attitudes in fashion in just one generation. Thelma is an alumna of Barrett Street Technical College.

Contemporary British Women Artists

Gloucester Regeneration
Camberwell alumnus Maximilian Barnes' first public work of art opens to the public in St Michael's Square, Gloucester. It takes the form of a 10-metre long abstract floor piece made from porcelain mosaic and is the first piece of art commissioned by the Arts Council for the regeneration of Gloucester city centre.

This Own-It event will explore the implications for commercial films when artists and filmmakers incorporate archive footage into their work, essentially creating something new from something old. Specialists explore the issues, including fair use, moral rights and creative commons.

Yuck
CSM Fine Art alumnus Dave Sinden is taking the children's publishing world by storm. Along with his childhood friend Matt Morgan, they've created the Yuck series. To date the books have sold over 30,000 copies since their launch last August. The Yuck series is a disgusting range of adventure stories aimed at 6-10 year-old boys. The third book comes out this month. Read more

Editor of the Year
CSM Graphic Design alumna Susy Smith, was voted Editor of the Year (Lifestyle Magazines) by the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) for Country Living magazine, published by the National Magazine Company. Susy was also nominated for Coast magazine - the first time any editor has been nominated for two magazine in the same category in the same year.

British born and New York-based photographer Platon studied graphic design at Central Saint Martins. Since then he has been commissioned to shoot portrait, fashion and documentary work for a range of leading international publications. obituaries

Sheila Soul-Gray
Sheila Soul-Gray, Director of Widening Participation and Further Education and former principal of Cordwainers College, died on 7 December 2006 after fighting a very courageous battle against cancer.
Sheila made a huge contribution to art and design education in the UK as a lecturer, inspector, college principal and, most recently, through her work
as the initiator and Director of the National Arts Learning Network. A memorial service
will be held at St Paul's Church, Covent Garden Market Piazza on 7 March at 4pm.

Vera South
We are also very sorry to announce the death of Vera South at the end of last year. Vera South was a widely respected senior lecturer at Central Saint Martins from the early 1950s until her retirement in 1984. During her time in the department she taught many of the illustrious names in the fashion world who graduated from the BA Fashion Course. As a tribute to Vera donations were made to the
North London Hospice.
