UAL Teachers' Senate

The UAL Teachers’ Senate brings together outstanding teachers who have been recognised for their commitment to inspire, enhance and promote teaching at UAL.

Colleagues are invited to join the UAL Teachers’ Senate on the basis of nomination by students in the annual Staff-Student Teacher Awards, by institutional recognition as Senior and Principal Fellows of the Higher Education Academy or as a UAL Teaching Scholar or by national recognition as National Teaching Fellows.

The Teachers’ Senate, which was launched in November 2015, aims to:

  • create a cross-university community of outstanding teachers to act as an expert reference group for informing policy and practice in relation to teaching
  • develop a culture of expertise in teaching and engage outstanding teachers in shared leadership of excellent teaching and learning at UAL
  • support and encourage the individual and collective action of teachers in relation to the University’s strategic commitment to deliver a transformative education.
