In 1986, the London Institute (now UAL) was created, bringing together "the Inner London Education Authority's art schools and specialist colleges in a unique collegiate institute". Since 1986, UAL has established itself as a leader in creative arts education and as the main provider of the talent pipeline for the £86bn UK arts and design industry.
