The work in the gallery below was undertaken by students at Carlisle College in the first term of the 2012-2013 academic year. The approach to units 1 and 2 and elements of units 3 and 4 was centred in the first half of term 1 in a substantive project called 'Plants are not boring'.
Students reviewed the project and contextual references in a power point presentation that they present to their peers who then provide feedback. See the powerpoint by Carlisle student Adrianna Gumela below:
This is a very effective way of introducing the students to methods that allows them to:
- Review their work
- Relate it to contextual references
- Assess how well they feel they have done
The staff at Carlisle College plan to develop this earlier and continue this approach through other units, the end product being a digital log book for each student.
