Current Research
I have been involved in the setting up of the Textiles Resource Online Guide a project funded by the Art, Design and Media subject centre and London College of Fashion Innovations Fund. This is a pilot of an online learning resource that helps students to understand textiles and source them online.
In my current role as Head of the Fashion Retail Academy I am involved in piloting two new diplomas in Fashion Retail and setting up the first National Skills Academy. This has involved a lot of research into systems and pedagogies to support teaching and learning using technology and also into best practice in work-based learning.
I have particular expertise and a lot of experience in the use of Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) to support teaching and learning and have consulted on the development and use of VLEs for a number of Universities and organisations including: Centre for Teaching and Learning in Art and Design, The Open University, Surrey Institute of Art and Design, CADISE, Norwich School of Art and Design, the University of Brighton and the University of Hertfordshire. I am also the Chair of the London and South East Section of the Textile Institute.
